Royal Victoria Building at the Western General Hospital

This is the place to find out more about NHS Lothian's plans and progress for the new Royal Victoria Building (RVB).



We want to keep as many patients, staff, visitors and locals informed as possible. Your views are important to us and we want you to be involved in the creation of this state-of-the-art facility.

Work is underway on the new £43.6m development, which has been specifically designed to meet the needs of elderly, rheumatology, and dermatology patients.

The full business case has now been approved by the Scottish Government and construction work has begun.

In progressing work, we are keeping a set of key principles at the forefront of our minds.

Sue Gardiner, Client Services Project Manager, has coordinated the plans to provide inpatient and out-patient health facilities for older people of North Edinburgh, including the new medical facility at the Western General Hospital.

This work has been supported by a Project Board and groups with public representation.
